History:
Traditional meal eaten for Lent. Its 40 days were supposed to have meat, specially pork meat, banned following the catholic tradition.
Upper classes always found the way to prevent such bans and have meat for their meals but, for lower classes, such a course like the one presented here, was one of the most delicious and affordable one.
Cod fish in catalan cooking tradition is even greater than in the basque one (weight eaten per inhabitant) in spite it was originally imported from there bringing the necessary proteins to mediterranean diets.
Nowadays cod fish with raisins is an exquisite course for everybody.
